Globalisation et humanisme chrétien. Perspectives sur l’Amérique Latine

The Anne Sigier Publications (Québec, Canada) has just published Globalisation et Humanisme Chrétien. Perspective sur l’Amérique latine (pp. 335) by the Uruguayan Guzmán Carriquiry Lecour, under-secretary of the Pontifical Council for the Laity in the Vatican. This publication is a new edition, revised and updated, of the book already published in Mexico, in Buenos Aires (Una apuesta por América Latina), in São Paulo (Brazil) and in Florence (Italy).
The aim of the present work is to propose keys for better understanding, judging and examining the current «global» situation of Latin America after the historical shift of the years 1989-1992 and the terrorist attack of 11 September 2001. The author deals particularly with the role that Latin America could play on the stage of globalization, of a new world order, of catholicity and of the great battles of the early 21st century that is just taking shape. This is why the book has already stirred intense interest and much debate in the political, academic, diplomatic and ecclesiastical circles of this continent. The book was also presented by Cardinal Jorge Bergoglio, archbishop of Buenos Aires, by Cardinal Oscar Rodriguez Maradiaga, archbishop of Tegucigalpa, and by others, as one of the most substantial and worthwhile contributions to the preparation of the V General Conference of the Latin-American Episcopate, held in Aparecida (Brazil) in May 2007 and opened by Pope Benedict XVI.
