On the paths of Vatican Council II

by Gianni Cardinale

On 14 May at the Pontifical Salesian University (PSU) a miscellany of studies on the topics of Vatican Council II was compiled appositely in order to celebrate the eighty years of Pope Benedict XVI. The bulky volume, edited by Don Manlio Sodi, teacher in the faculty of Theology of the Athenaeum, is called «Ubi Petrus ibi Ecclesia». Sui “sentieri” del Concilio Vaticano II [On the “paths” of Vatican Council II], and is published by LAS (the publishing house of the PSU). At the presentation, introduced with a greeting by the Rector Don Mario Toso and moderated by Don Sodi, the Dominican Cardinal Georges Marie Martin Cottier, Pro-theologian Emeritus of the Papal Household, the Salesian Archbishop Angelo Amato, Secretary of the Congregation for the Doctrine of the Faith, Don Giorgio Zevini, Dean of the Faculty of Theology, Don Pietro Braido, Professor Emeritus of the PSU, and Doctor Antonio Fazio, Governor of the Bank of Italy from 1993 to 2005 (and author of the contribution to the miscellany that we publish in these pages), participated. After the general audience of Wednesday 30 May a copy of the miscellany was donated to the Pope by a delegation of the PSU formed by Don Sodi, Don Enrico dal Covolo, Postulator General of the Salesians, Don Mario Maritano, Senior Dean of the faculty of Christian and Classical Letters, and Don Mauro Mantovani, Dean of the Faculty of Philosophy.
