Qui prie sauve son âme for my nephews and grandnephews

Lourdes, 22 May 2009

Ladies and Gentlemen,
After the feast of the Ascension of our Lord, let me ask you if I could receive a free copy of Qui prie sauve son âme (also more copies if possible).
I would like to give this little book as a gift to my relatives, nephews, grandnephews: I am 97 years old!
Thank you in advance from the bottom of my heart. I entrust you to St Rita of Cascia, celebrated today, as well as to Our Lady of Lourdes. Praying for you, with you,

your Sister Marie de Jésus

We look forward to receiving 30Days each month

Sioux City, 13 May 2009

Dear Senator Andreotti,
This is a much belated “thank you” from all of us at the Carmelite Monastery in Sioux City, Iowa, for your very beautiful magazine 3ODays. We look forward to receiving it each month. It’s a wonderful magazine and we so enjoy your editorials, “spiritual readings”, feature articles, news reports and beautiful pictures. May our Lord and God reward you and bless you for your great generosity and kindness.
We remember you and all the staff of 3ODays in our prayers. May our Risen Lord Jesus fill your hearts with His love, joy and peace.

Thanks for the valuable booklet Quem reza se salva

Campina Grande, 27 March 2009

Dear Senator Giulio Andreotti,
More than a year ago thirty copies of the precious booklet Quem reza se salva came to our monastery. We requested it to give to people who could use it, recalling with affection the beautiful teachings of the catechism received during childhood or youth. Instead, our apostolate was not able to reach those people who we greatly wanted to have this blessed book in their hands.
Unfortunately it happened that the books arrived just before Christmas and our superior, forgetting the purpose of our request, placed them in the refectory, one in the place of each nun, as a gift from the Child Jesus. The whole community was delighted to receive the gift and when the superior confessed that it was her mistake, silence fell. Only two sisters stood up, ready to give up their booklets. So at present we have only six books for our greatly desired apostolate.
And only now, after so many months, have I the courage to ask for extra copies of my dear and generous senator: the largest number possible. We do not have words to express our gratitude.
We dare to make another request: the offer of a subscription to the magazine 30Dias to our great priest friend, who, without any compensation, does not spare sacrifices to come to our monastery and spiritually enrich the sisters, with his edifying lessons. When he learned that we receive this magazine, he told us that he liked it very much and asked us if we could lend it to him after having read it, and we have been doing so for several months. We give him some numbers, but others, even if it weighs on us to do so, we ask him to return to us. For this reason, we ask the good senator’s gift of a subscription for this priest who will be delighted to receive 30Dias in the seminary where he is vice rector.
Mr Giulio Andreotti, this gesture of love and detachment from material goods in favor of many monasteries and religious houses, spread throughout many countries, has made you known and loved by very many people who pray unceasingly to Jesus and Mary for your happiness on earth and a crown of glories in the heavenly homeland.
Please receive the friendly and sisterly embrace of all the Poor Clares of Campina Grande, who also pray for you and your family,

sister Maria Tereza do Espírito Santo, OSC

Thanks for the book by Don Mazzolari Anch’io voglio bene al Papa

Agra, 29 April 2009

Dear Senator,
We thank you most sincerely for the book Anch’io voglio bene al Papa (I too love the Pope) by Primo Mazzolari, which we read voluntarily in the community.
We are also so grateful to you for the magazine 30Giorni that you kindly send us every month and we appreciate it very much, especially for the articles of religious culture.
We return our gratitude with a special remembrance in monastic prayer and the Eucharist, so that the Lord Jesus will reward you and your team abundantly with many divine blessings.
May the light of the Resurrection illuminate your path and, through the intercession of the Virgin Mary, shine in your heart in joy, peace and spiritual consolations.
Renewing our gratitude, we wish every true good in the Lord.
With religious esteem,

Thanks for the precious gift that is 30Days

Quilon, 5 May 2009

Dear Friend, Mr. Andreotti,
May the Lord grant us His peace. This is a letter of thanks long due from us – the Poor Clares of Perpetual Adoration, a cloistered, contemplative community from the furthest corner of India. Our community is the first of our Order in India, and our diocese of Quilon is the first diocese in India.
Our community thanks you warmly for the precious gift of your precious magazine 30Days. All of us appreciate it very much, especially the articles: on the Popes; relations between the Church and our Muslim brethren; the anguish of refugees and all marginalized people and even our own persecuted Christian brethren in India.
Thank you for your thoughtfulness towards us – the Contemplatives. May God bless your efforts to deal out wholesome news in place of the sensational with which the world is being fed. We thank the Lord for the ninety years He has granted you to serve Him, and which you have done in so noteworthy a manner. May He keep you hale and hearty until you have lived out a century, and only then may He beckon you home to receive your well-deserved reward.
Assuring you dear friend of our sincere and humble prayers, we are your devoted sisters in Jesus Hostia,

Willingness and promptness in sending us Qui prie sauve son âme

Moundou, 22 May 2009

Dear Friends,
I was truly struck by your willingness and promptness in sending the booklets of prayer Qui prie sauve son âme, received in recent days. They arrived just as an act of Providence because we will use the booklet especially for the young women who take their first steps in the religious life. Many thanks also on behalf of my provincial superior and of the sisters involved in the training of the young Africans. May the Lord fill from the abundance of His goodness your work and your mission. We assure you of our small and simple prayer and also wish you on behalf of all of us, with fraternal greeting, a holy Pentecost.

Quien reza se salva to give as a gift

Gradefes, 27 May 2009

In the 30Días magazine the booklet Quien reza se salva is mentioned. Could you have the courtesy to send us fifteen copies in Spanish? We want to give them as gifts and certainly, subsequently, I will ask you for more. Can you send me the account number to which the amount must be paid?

30Días is a comprehensive and well-illustrated magazine

Mexico City, 16 April 2009

Dear Mr. Giulio,
In these days when we are celebrating the Resurrection of the Lord, we send you a warm greeting; the deep experience of the Risen Jesus causes us to experience peace in our lives.
These lines are to thank you for your monthly magazine, in which I found very interesting articles on the Church today, as well as news, stories, anecdotes, topical issues and reports. It is a truly comprehensive magazine and especially well illustrated that also helps us to gain a perspective of the current situation of Catholicism in other countries different than ours. We wish to extend our thanks to all those who work with you and insure that the magazine 30Días arrives in our hands.
Mr Giulio, thanks again for sending the copies of the magazine. May the Lord reward you and your work group with special graces.
I take my leave of you: may the Risen Lord sustain you with His infinite love in your daily tasks. Happy Easter of Resurrection!
With consideration,

Ana Mota Díaz, secretary general

Spiritual reading/28

As commentary on canon 25 of the Council of Orange we refer to a phrase of Saint Augustine and a sentence of Saint Teresa of the Child Jesus:

«Unde est in hominibus caritas Dei et proximi, nisi ex ipso Deo? Nam si non ex Deo, sed ex hominibus, vicerunt pelagiani; si autem ex Deo, vicimus pelagianos». (Augustine, De gratia et libero arbitrio I, 18, 37)

“From where in men did the love for God and neighbor come if not from God himself? For if it came not from God, but from men, the Pelagians would have won, but if it comes from God, it is we who win over the Pelagians”.

“When I am charitable, it is Jesus alone Who acts in me. The more I am united to Him the more I love all my sisters”. (Saint Teresa of the Child Jesus, Story of a Soul)

Council of Orange of 529

“Loving God is completely a gift of God ”

Canon 25.

Canon 25. Concerning the love with which we love God.
It is wholly a gift of God to love God. He who loves, even though He is not loved, allowed Himself to be loved. We are loved, even when we displease him, so that we might have means to please him. For the Spirit, whom we love with the Father and the Son, has poured into our hearts the love of the Father and the Son (Rm 5, 5).

Ten thousand copies of Quem reza se salva for the faithful of the diocese

São Tomé and Príncipe, 24 April 2009

Dear Senator Giulio Andreotti!
I am the Bishop of São Tomé and Príncipe in Africa.
I want to thank you for sending the magazine 30Giorni and for the supplements that you send us.
One of the books received, Quem reza se salva, is very useful for the people. In a future edition, therefore, I think you might add a chapter on the history of salvation: it would be very beneficial.
I want to ask you if it were possible for us to have a large number of copies. I would like to have a booklet like this to give to the whole population. Might I have ten thousand copies of it? It would be one way to conduct catechesis for the people of the Roças and to give them a prayer book, which is something they want very much.
Grateful for your attention, I implore for you and your family the blessings of the Lord!

Manuel António Mendes dos Santos, CMF,
Bishop of São Tomé and Príncipe

P.S. On 3 June, the Bishop of São Tomé and Príncipe, Manuel António Mendes dos Santos, informed us that he received the ten thousand copies of the booklet Quem reza se salva.

Thanks for the booklet La testimonianza di Gesù risorto

Bushenyi, 20 April 2009

Dear editorial staff,
I thank you for sending Don Giacomo Tantardini’s lecture La testimonianza di Gesù risorto (The witness of the Risen Jesus). It helps at a time when it is proclaimed from many parts: “God does not exist”.
How can one respond to the often repeated assertion: “What does God, even if he existed, have to do with my life? I don’t need him! I don’t see what it can add to or how it can help my human existence”.
Can you suggest something written, in lesson form, that could help with this research?
I thank you sincerely,

father Franco Bertò

I feel the lack of this good companion, 30Giorni

Lira, 24 April 2009

While I offer you my most sincere greetings and best wishes for a successful continuation of this beautiful Easter season in the joy of the Risen Lord, I turn to you with deference to ask you kindly to subscribe – if possible – our community in Bala in the list of those to whom you send each month your valuable magazine 30Giorni. I received it regularly and with great pleasure and profit when I was in the Mission in Aduku, which we consigned to the diocesan clergy last year. Now I have moved to this new mission and I feel the lack of this good companion. I hope and await.
Thank you in advance for your attention. With great esteem and gratitude,

De Gasperi and Christian charity

Indápolis, 25 May 2009

Dear Senator Giulio Andreotti,
Sincere greetings and heartfelt thanks for the magazine 30Giorni, which I both cherish and find pleasant to read – and, sometimes, to reread – because it makes me feel good and helps me to love the Church.
I am a missionary who writes you, Father Mario Panzieri, born in Selva del Montello, Treviso, 82 years ago, and here in Brazil since 1947.
Allow me a distant memory. In 1950 I studied theology in São Paulo, and reading La Civiltà Cattolica that came from Rome, under the heading ‘Political Review’ I saw a report made by the President of the Council, Alcide De Gasperi, to the Chamber of Deputies, on Italian reconstruction intended to alleviate the inconveniences caused by the war; De Gasperi concluded by saying: “This makes us happy because we did it in the name of that Christian charity that we learned from the Gospel”.
I greet you,

Don Mario Panziera

A subscription for the auxiliary bishop

Guadalajara, 21 May 2009

My name is Margarita Lizárraga de Iglesias and I am in charge of the Communion and Liberation movement in Guadalajara, Jalisco, Mexico.
We are a very small community (about 35 people) and in the last two years, the auxiliary bishop and rector of the seminary in Guadalajara, Miguel Romano Gómez, has given us the honor of presiding at the Eucharistic celebrations for the anniversary of the death of Don Luigi Giussani. He has always shown us his great appreciation for Don Gius, and has always made us feel at home in the seminary.
The lord bishop asked me last year if I could get him a subscription to 30Días, since he received it at first but has not received it anymore. This year he asked me again and I’m writing to see if there is the possibility that he be sent a free subscription.
I would be very grateful if you could help me in this.

We were recommended to read the essay Sobre la resurrección de Jesucristo

Mercedes, 12 May 2009

Dear Gentlemen of 30Días magazine,
I am writing to request the essay Sobre la resurrección de Jesucristo by Heinrich Schlier, that you published with your magazine. We are students of the “Saint Curé d’Ars” seminary of priestly formation in the Archdiocese of Mercedes-Luján, Argentina. Our professor of Fundamental Theology has recommended the reading of this essay on the Resurrection. Given the situation of our country, it is very difficult to access this type of book, especially because of the cost. So we would appreciate it if you could send us six copies.
Yours sincerely,

Lisandro Rodríguez, seminarian
